In a lot of ways, it makes it harder for the mother raising the baby, but in a lot of ways it has a lot of perks. The same goes for the child. There are a lot of different kinds of families, a lot of different kinds of single parents, and a lot of different kinds of children of single parents. There's no way to determine what kind of effect that might have on the child. Because ever child and situation is different, there are an unlimited amount possibilities. What is most important is that the child has at least one person around them, hopefully more, but at least one, who loves them unconditionally, and who is willing to do everything they possibly can to provide the very best they possibly can for that child. Having unconditional love, support, and attatchment is the most important thing for a growing child, and it doesn't matter whether it comes from one parent, two parents, grand parents, extended family, friends, or any combination. The only thing that is for certain is that a child is better off with one parent in a happy home (or two parents in two seperate happy homes), than in one unhappy home with both unhappy parents. Embarking on the journey of single parenting is a hard one, but it comes with many rewards. There are lots of support networks out there for you, if you need them.
